May 23, 2012 Democratic senators, joined by women leaders, call on Republicans to support the Paycheck Fairness Act, and allow swift passage in the Senate. Maybe they should start will their own Party before blaming Republicans
on unequal pay for women!
May 23, 2012 Senator Richard Durbin speaks about safety
concerns concerning dietary supplementsto and urges the Senate to pass his Amendment
to S.3187 (Food and Drug Administration Safety and Innovation Act ).
S.Amdt.2127 was 'Table' and not allowed to procced forward for debate.
May 23, 2012 Senator Majority Leader Harry Reid urges Republicans to join Democrats in a bipartisanship manner to pass S.3187 (Food and Drug Administration Safety and Innovation Act )
.
May 22, 2012 Senator Jeff Bingaman speaks in favor of his upcoming Admendment (S.Admt.2111) to S.3187 (Food and Drug Administration Safety and Innovation Act)
Senate Status
- May 25, 2012 as the Senate prepares to debate the merits of S. 3220, a bill to amend the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 in reguards to equal pay for women, 'The Women of the Senate' held a news conference on May 23, 2012 urging the Republicans to join them in the spirit of bipartisanship to pass the bill. But during the news conference on May 23, 2012 many of these women Democratic Senators
including Senators Murray (WA) and Boxer (CA) accused Republicans of unequal pay
practices towards women when in fact the Democrats themselves have not been paying
their women staffers the same as men.
Read the whole story at Freebacon.com.
Senator Murray, who has often accused Republicans of waging a 'war on women' turns out to be one of the worst offenders,
she pays her female staffers about $21,000 less per year than her male staffers...that
is a difference of 35%. Senator Boxer's female staffers earned less than $5,000
or 7% than the male staffers. It seems the worst offender of the 'gender pay gap'
is the Democratic-Socialist Senator from Vermont who employes 4 more men than women and
pays them on average 47% more money than his women staffers. Remember to a
Marxist what is or is not FAIR is only determined by other Marxists....ha...ha!
- May 24, 2012 the Senate debated the following Amendments to S.3187 - The Food and Drug Administration Safety and Innovation Act Sponsored by Democratic Senator Tom Harkin was passed thru the Senate without any additional Amendments
on a bipartisan roll call vote of 96-1-3 with only the Democratic-Socialist from
Vermont Senator Bernard Sanders voting against the Bill. Senator Sanders said on
his web site,
"The most pressing prescription drug issue in our country today is that Americans
pay, by far, the highest prices in the world for their medicine and millions of
people cannot afford the medications their doctors prescribe. I voted against
this bill because it does far too little to address this crisis while it perpetuates
a prescription drug system that continues to fail the American people".
Senator Sanders had the worst results today with only 7 of his fellow 'Democratic-Socialists'...err...Democrats
and only one Republican (John McCain) voting for his proposed Amendment. Senator
Rand Paul's Amendment failed to reach the Senate Floor for a roll call vote and
was desposed by the Democrat majority quickly with a 'Table' Motion without gaining
a single Democrat roll call vote to proceed forward for debate.
In other matters S.2343 the "Stop the Student Loan Interest Rate Hike Act of 2012" Sponsored by Senate Majority
Leader Harry Reid was 'Rejected' on a roll call vote of 51-43-6 when it failed to meet the 60 vote threshold needed to pass. This 'Progressive' piece of legislation
earned 49 Democrat roll call votes with Senator James Webb (VA) being the only Democrat
to vote against the Bill. S.2343 failed to earn one Republican vote in the affirmative
while Senator Snowe (MA) seemed to think it was a good time to vote 'Present'.

Which political party actually has been in control of the Senate since 2006? Consider the
'The Gang of 20'. Senators with over twenty years of Senate service have much more power in the Senate than Senators with less seniority and seniority has a heavy influence on which Senators are assigned to which prestigious committees. The Democrats have controlled the gang of twenty since 2005 (yes even during the Bush years) when it was 16 Democrats, 12 Republicans with over twenty years of Senate service, now under Obama its 18
Democrats, 8 Republicans, but on May 8, 2012 Senator Richard Lugar lost his GOP Primary and will be leaving
the Senate after 36 years in January 2013.
The late Robert C. Byrd had almost 54 years of Senate Service. Democratic Senator Daniel Inouye from Hawaii will started his 9th term in the Senate Janauary 2011, he is 86 years old and will have 54 years of Senate service when his 9th term ends sometime around January, 2017 when he is 92 years old. Senator Barbara Mikulski of Maryland is one of the most progressive democrats in the Senate and has been a member of the 'Gang of 20' for over 15 years!
